Hi Tweeters,

An interesting report and maybe there are more birds near the Oroville area in Okanogan County. Worth checking out and being alert for these beautiful sparrows if you happen to be in the area birding.

Hi all;

Bob McKay and I went out this morning in the west Osoyoos atlas
square (11LQ13) and had at least one and probably two singing Black-
throated Sparrows. We headed out from the end of the subdivision above
the Osoyoos Golf course and followed dirt roads that headed roughly
south. The bird(s) were right down near the border fence and were
singing away most of the time we were there. When we first saw the
bird it was actually in Washington state by about 5 metres but it
crossed the border and actually went several hundred metres into our
area. It remained well on our side of the border for the rest of the
time we saw it. We had a second sighting about 300 metres further
north and probably 400 metres east but there's a chance it was the
same bird. Bob managed to get a nice photo which will be up later. A
Canada bird for Bob and an Okanagan tick for me.
