Tweets, For about a month now an adult kite has been seen in s. Thurston Co.
in the NW corner of Rock Prairie from near the end of Melville St about 3
miles W of Tenino off Old Hwy 99. It forages over the scotch broom patch and
perches in the firs that fringe the mini air strip, and possibly along the
perimeter of the prairie. From I-5 take exit 88 and head toward Tenino for
about 5 miles, turn left onto Melville. If you see the alpaca ranch (Rock
Prairie) you've gone too far. (This is also a good spot for Lazuli Buntings,
in the Christmas trees or the adjacent broom.) Good birding!
