Hi everyone,
My friend John Maynard and I spent Sunday afternoon, July 20th birding and doing some bird photography at Tokeland and Midway Beach. At Midway Beach there were several hundred Western Sandpipers, a couple of Short-billed Dowitchers, many Barn and Cliff Swallows hawking over the water and a Northern Harrier flew by.
At the Tokeland Marina we had a greater variety of shorebirds including about 200 Dowitchers, 5 Willets, 10 Whimbrel and 1 Ruddy Turnstone. There were about 30 Heermann's Gulls as well.

I managed some nice images of flying Western Sandpipers at Midway Beach and some shots of the larger shorebirds at Tokeland. If anyone would like to see them, along with a couple of shorebird shots from earlier this spring, they can be seen at www.trogontours.net/recentimages .

Good birding to everyone,
