Regarding the recent postings on Greater Yellowlegs, on July 6th I saw
4 at Mud Bay of Eld Inlet, Thurston County.

I was observing just southeast of the remains of the Mud Bay Logging
Company log dump pier, early on the late afternoon rising of the tide,
and had them under observation for ~30 minutes. They were all clearly
adults, and kept to themselves in two groups of two. Most of the time
they were foraging along the water's edge, probing in the mud just
above and below the water line. For a time two of them were chasing and
catching small fish in water a few inches deep. The fish appeared to be
quite nearly bill-length.

Since then I've been observing tidewater only at Kennedy Creek estuary
and have seen no Yellowlegs there.
