If you are in Central Oregon, a great stop is the Metolius River near Camp Sherman, a short drive from Sisters. The river and surrounding area is beautiful and unique. There are lots of black-headed grosbeaks - I read somewhere that this is the center of their range. In June, there is a hatch of large "green drake" mayflies, and it's fun to watch the swallows, swifts, and nighthawks catch them.
