While setting up for our big sustainability festival this weekend in Port
Gamble, we were continually buzzed by Barn Swallows that flew tight circles
around us as we walked. We
puzzled about this behavior until we realized they were probably hoping we
would kick up insects as we walked. They'll have lots of people to follow
this weekend because we're expecting a big turnout for the headline
entertainment, live music, green exhibits, speakers, workshops and
experimental cars. We hope families come for the fun and leave with a
greater appreciation of how their lifestyle choices affect the future health
of our communities, economy and environment.
