Hey tweets, November arrived today at the Fill, and with it, a Lazuli
Bunting!!! I have never before seen one at the Fill. I first heard it
singing in the cottonwoods by the picnic table. Then it flew into a
bush near the Wedding Rock (just south of Wahkiakum Lane and the little
parking lot directly west of the CUH building). It posed for a little,
flew to another bush, posed, then headed east. It was glorious in the
gray light, like it was toting its own patch of blue sky.

Also present: a pair of Ospreys, a pair of Caspian Terns, a Blue-winged
Teal, the pair of Northern Rough-winged Swallows that I think are
nesting near the construction trailer, and a Green Heron, flying from
east to its haunts near the crew house.

As soon as I thaw out, I'll be heading back to the Fill, dressed for
winter this time. - Connie, Seattle
