This afternoon I joined some fellow Grays Harbor Audubon members at the annual picnic which was held at Friends Landing near Montesano. We walked the loop trail and had some nice bird activity on the east side of the loop. We had a great look at a Swainson's Thrush that landed on trail in front of us and allowed everyone to see it.

Here's what we saw/heard:

Osprey (heard)
Turkey Vulture (single bird flying over)
Killdeer (heard)
Pacific-slope Flycatcher (heard)
Warbling Vireo
Rufous Hummingbird
Swainson's Thrush
American Robin
Crow spp.
Black-capped Chickadee
Bewick's Wren
Marsh Wren
European Starling
Wilson's Warbler (heard)
Cedar Waxwing
Song Sparrow
Black-headed Grosbeak (heard)
Western Tanager (heard)
Purple Finch
American Goldfinch

Good birding!
