Many thanks to everyone who responded to my inquiry about purple finches.
I'm enormously relieved to know that they're still around--in Tacoma, Port
Townsend, Redmond, Renton, Snoqualmie, and elsewhere.

Having watched a drastic decline in the types and numbers of birds at my
feeders in recent years, I've been feeling a profound sense of loss. So,
I'm comforted to know that these beautiful birds are still around.

I hope to go out to the stillwater area in the Snoqualmie Valley to see some
finches soon.
