I was almost arrested once in Olympia as a college student as I was skulking
around the Capital grounds at dawn, in camo. The security guys actually took
me into their security area, asked many questions, I finally convinced them
after showing them my field notes, bird book and talking about birds, that I
was really just a harmless bird watcher. About six months later I was in a
local bar and the two security guys showed up and bought me a beer and said
that I was the most exciting security event of the year.
