Greetings

Purple Finches are still rather common in lowland western Washington, but
they seem to like certain habitats. The Skagit Game Range has many, likely
because of the many hawthornes there. I've found that the older maple woodlands,
especially with conifers mixed in, on Whidbey are very good for Purple Finches.
Mounts Road near Nisqually has many.... habitat there more like the Skagit Game
Range.

They are surprisingly widespread during March, when singing. Then, they can
be harder to locate, except at such places as the Skagit Game Range and
feeders.
