May 8 - 12 Eric & Tammy Bjorkman and I birded ne Okanogan County, Ferry, Stevens, Pend Oreille and Whitman, Adams Cos. Places birded in order are:
Okanogan Co.--south end of Osoyoos Lake, 9-mile Rd., Molson, Beaver Canyon, Lee Johnson's.
Ferry Co.--Kettle River, Mud Lake, Don & Ione McKnight's, Sanpoil River drainage, Bridge Creek, Silver Creek Rd. around to the Gifford Ferry.
Stevens--Coleville.
Pend Oreille Co.--Meadow Creek, Big Meadow Lake, Ione, Harvey Creek, Sullivan Lake, Gypsy Meadows, Mill Pond, Meadow Rd. near Cusick, Callispell Lake.
Whitman Co.--Kamiak Butte, Steptoe Butte, La Cross.
Adams Co.--Washtucna

Birds seen (highlights)
several Clay-colored Sparrows on Nine Mile Rd. west of Molson-a different spot then I have seen them before. Lee Johnson's stake outs of mountain species and Don & Ione McKnight's feeders where birds just drop out of the skies like Wild Turkeys, a Red-necked Phalarope at Mud Lake, White-throated Swifts at 10-mile Campground, Am. Redstart at Bridge Creek, a Wilson's Phalarope at the Colville Sewer Ponds seen from the parking lot in town scoping, another Am. Redstart at Big Meadow Lake tower looking down on it, a Say's Phoebe just coming into Ione from Big Meadow Lake-tough in northern Pend Oreille Co., lots of crossbills and a good cone crop above Gypsy Meadows Campground, Bobolinks near Cusick, Verries, Catbird, and Yellow-breasted Chat at the picnic area at the base of Steptoe Butte, 1 Townsend's Warbler-not singing typical song in Washtucna in the Elm Tree and of course the E. Collared-Doves.

Animals seen: 2 Black Bear one south of Inchelium, the other coming down from Gypsy Meadows Campground, Pend Oreille Co., 2 Moose at the viewing platform at Big Meadow Lake, 2 large (rams) Big-horn Sheep which about ran head into our car coming around a corner, 3 Snowshoe Hares.
