Here at 1,200' in Skamania County, the Tree and Violet-green
Swallow that use our nest boxes have attempted nest building and left
with the onset of cooler weather three times so far this spring. I noted
both Spotted Towhees and Song Sparrows with single fledgling birds here
today. We also had our first of the season OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER and
RED-EYED VIREO today. I can still see snow in the hills of the Columbia
River Gorge, the latest that I have seen in over thirty years at this
site.
