on June 11th my birding mentor, Charlie Sheard, took me on a fun trip to a
few of the spots listed in the Audubon map of the Coulee Corridor Scenic
Byway. Our stops included Birder's Corner, O'Sullivan Dam, North Potholes
Reserve, Potholes Reservoir Peninsula and Crab Creek Overlook. The water was
VERY high, so we're planning another tour of the area in August in hopes of
seeing more shore activity. It's hard to pick a highlight, but thanks to
Vicki Blitz's post on Tweeters we saw two Burrowing Owls, a lifer for me, on
highway 283 where mile-post marker 13 should be. Here is our list for the
