After many trips in the early morning and late at night, I finally heard my first of the year Common Nighthawk in the county. Tonight, I was on the B-2600 logging road just off Newman Creek Road at about 9:50pm when I heard the nighthawk doing its "peent" call. I also saw a few bats flying about.

Tonight, I also noted that the Weyerhaeuser roads off of Newman Creek Road have been changed to Green Dots so you can now travel them any day of the week rather than just weekends.

I may try for Mountail Quail on Sunday morning if anyone is interested. You would have to be in Elma by 4:30am. Email me off list if you would like to join me.
