Hi Everyone!

This is a dilemma with which each of you is probably very familiar, squirrels. I've got an area where I feed my birds. It's a dual hooked shepherd with a barn/type feeder on one side that holds seeds as well as two suets (one on each end), the other hook holds a squirrel proof seeder that is the type that, when weighted down, closes feeder holes so heavier birds (such as our band tailed pigeons) and squirrels can't get the food inside. Further down the back yard I've got another one, open to all takers, with suet and seed as well. On the other side of the house I've got a corn/nut cake hanging from a gazaebo (it states clearly that it's for squirrels in particular)...what I'm getting at is that I do my best to please all my visitors in different areas with things they're supposed to enjoy. But no matter what I do the darn squirrels insist on attacking the one area where I prefer there to be only birds. I've taken to greasing the 'bird only' pole with mineral oil and crisco, but they (being as clever as they should) have started climbing the wood posts we put up for planters last year and jumping from them onto the house feeder. I like squirrels, and the chipmunks too, and try to give them their own area, but they won't leave the bird feeder alone. Does anyone know of a feeder that's a combination of the following:
Durable, attractive (non-industrial), holds a decent amount of food, is relatively inexpensive, and deters squirrels?
The one I have, the sliding type, is pretty, but I buy a new one each year because the springs wear out, I can't clean it and sometimes the seed sprouts and just breaks the plastic up. IF they were 10 dollars I wouldn't mind so much, but at 30$ each, I'm buying two a year and husband is getting fed up. Any ideas would be welcome!
Thanks a bunch,
Shoni
