Hi Tweets!

Robert Liberty and I enjoyed a nice hike on the 7 mile or so loop to top of Dog Mountain near Stevenson, WA this Sunday. The flowers were still in nice display and we suspected they must have peaked less than a week ago; A tad bit late but not surprisingly so.

As expected conditions were quite windy at the summit. Nothing rare to report but it was nice to see and hear over a couple of dozen HERMIT WARBLERS, a few NASHVILLE, and several MACGILLIVRAY'S. LAZULI BUNTINGS were quite conspicuous at the top, while a few WESTERN TANAGERS and BLACK HEADED GROSBEAKS put in a brief appearance. I heard a ASH THROATED FLYCATCHER in the distance but did not see it. A small flock of EVENING GROSBEAKS were also heard as well.

A nice weekend over all. We definitely deserve this nice weather for a change!!

Good birding to you,

Khanh Tran (Portland, Oregon)
