Hi Bill. I also live in Snohomish, just up the road from Blackman's
Lake. In my eight years here I've seen a small flock of about 10-12
birds fly over my house at various times every summer. This past week
however, there's also been a single pigeon perched high in my huge
cherry tree, presumably picking cherries although I haven't seen that
activity. All the other birds do it too. I have a highly active and
diverse group of birds daily at my feeders and I suspect this might
have attracted the pigeon too. I have never seen territorial behavior
from pigeons in my neighborhood, but they got to be nesting close by.

If you're interested, right now there is a huge flock of band-tails at
a feedlot half way between Monroe and Duvall. I stop there every
Wednesday to see them. You can get up close and personal at this sight.
Thanks

I had a band-tailed pigeon at my feeder for a couple of hours this
afternoon. He feed on birdseed on the ground and was harassed by several
squirrels. Are they common in NW Washington this time of year? I
have never had one here before. I will post some photos shortly.
