yesterday, I went out into the waters of Union Bay (on the Arboretum side) with Skye and her priceless canoe, and we had a glorious time. The weather couldn't have been nicer, none of the folk in their UW-borrowed canoes came close enough to cause problems, and the sushi and sashimi afterwards made the whole experience mahvelous...

among the interesting sightings: several beaver (north of foster island and along the arboretum coastline), raccoons, cliff / barn / tree / violet-green swallows, at least one cinnamon teal female, a small flock of band-tailed pigeons, a cooper's hawk harrassing and being harrassed by several swallow species, the stoic great blue herons, and more than a few mallard mothers and their charges, one brood totaling around 16 brand-new chicks...

this afternoon, I'm triaging photos and outside the window that overlooks my forest is a mourning dove. in sammamish. go figure.

anyway, the Photos of the Month gallery has been updated with these and a surprise guest; I hope you enjoy :)
