I was in Spokane this past weekend and had time to bird a few places. Sunday morning, I visited Riverside State Park at the Bowl and Pitcher area. Swallows were everywhere with the majority of them being Cliff and Violet-Green. Also, high above several White-throated Swifts were flying around. A single female Common Merganser was seen in the river here as well.

Further along the road to the north, Pygmy Nuthatch and House Wren were found.

On Saturday, north of Spokane near Mead, I found a nesting White-breasted Nuthatch in one neighborhood. Also, a single Eastern Kingbird was seen perched on a utility line.

I will be moving to the Spokane area in 3 short weeks. It will be an exciting area to explore and learn.
