A brief intro about myself: I'm new to birding and this list.? My family recently moved from living in ?'the city' of Granite Falls to 6 acres outside of Granite Falls.? Since we moved here the end of April, I have taken a great interest in the wildlife around us; especially the birds that visit our feeders.? As my guide, I am contantly referring to the book 'Birds of the Puget Sound Region'.? Many days I hang out on our back deck, book by my side and wait for a new bird to stop by so I can look it up:-)

On June 21st I noted a Dark-eyed Junco at our feeder.? Luckily he hung out long enough for me to find him in my book.? And sure enough he looked just like the picture!

So I was wondering, is it rare to have him at this time of year?

THANKS

Hello, tweets.

I don't suppose many people would consider this a cosmic bird sighting, but it excited me.

A male Dark-eyed Junco was just at our feeder for a few minutes. Here it is June 26, and I have never seen a junco here in the summer in 17 years. My latest-ever spring date is May 5, earliest-ever fall date September 3. They breed here and there in Seattle, but not in my neighborhood.

Would birds be so interesting if they didn't fly?
