Hi, all! Being new to the area, I'm still unsure what species are supposed to
be here & which aren't. I thought nothing of seeing the juncos every day
here in Lacey. They're foraging near my feeders & singing from the rooftops
of our apartment buildings. In the Atlanta area, juncos are harbingers of cold weather,
often showing up about a week or 2 before the first frost in the fall (usually in
late October or early November), then staying until all chance of cold weather is
gone (usually sometime in late March or early April). I guess I just assumed that
the much more northerly region & generally milder summer made this year-round
junco habitat. Am I wrong, or is this a relatively new development for this species?
