It was a beautiful rainy morning to cruise Butler Flats this morning. I went looking for the Yellow-headed Blackbird that was reported a few days ago and eventually found it in a large flock of Blackbirds, Cowbirds, and Starlings on Green Rd. Also of note in this flock was a luecistic Cowbird that got me all exited when I first saw a very light bird amongst the groves of Blackbirds. I got the bird in the scope and noticed that it pretty much had no color, a black beak, black eyes, and was indentical in structure to the other Brown-headed Cowbirds in the area. However before I found the Blackbird I found a Mountain Bluebird on Dahlstedt Road perched on a fence post. The bird flew away, but I was able to relocate it several times and got a few decent pictures. Finally on my way home on Bayview Edison Road I found a Common or Eurasion Teal in the second slough on the west side of the road in with a few Green-winged Teal. Sure glad I decided to brave the rain this morning!
