Richard,

It's excellent. I've been reading a copy for a few weeks. He also
wrote this book a few years ago, equally good:

The Speciation and Biogeography of Birds. Also Academic Press.

Quite an amazing one-two punch by one of the UK's deans of ornithology.

Does anyone have an opinion on this book? It's expensive but looks
good and
I believe Ian Newton is a real authority.
