Yesterday I walked from Myrtle Edwards Park north to Smith Cove, visiting the Olympic Sculpture Park along the way. Things were really hopping at the grain tower pier. There was a gigantic raft of Surf Scoters, 500 - 600 +. They and about 130 Greater Scaups seemed to be really interested in a loading freighter. The ducks were diving and generally cavorting about the ship. A smaller flock of American Wigeons mixed in, and this included a single Eurasian Wigeon. I have been seeing Eurasian Wigeons all over the place this year. A Rhinoceros Auklet was also diving nearby.

It is always fun to see these birds at such close quarters.
