I sat at the back window all day watching the seeds I put on the railing disappear. Much to my excitement, three different kinds of juncos showed up--the obvious Oregon variety, the rarer slate-colored, and the bird of the day, a PINK-SIDED! I could see all its markings very clearly, and plenty of female oregon juncos were around for a fair comparison. So now I'm wondering, how rare are pink-sideds in our neck of the woods?
