The next public meeting for the Vaux's swifts is scheduled for April 8
(7-8:30 PM) at the Monroe School District Administration offices,200 E. Fremont, Monroe, WA.

35 people attended the last meeting with presentations from both US Fish and Wildlife and Larry Schwitters, swift expert. Residents from Monroe as well as bird lovers from King
and Snohomish Counties were there to see what we can do to save the old brick
chimney at Wagner Elementary School for these tiny birds. We believe this may be
the second largerst colony of Vaux's swifts in North America.

The Monroe School District is working cooperatively with Pilchuck Audubon,
Seattle Audubon and East Lake Washington Audubon, as well as US Fish and
Wildlife. We need your help and support if these lovely little birds are to
continue to have a roosting place as they pass through twice each year from
Central America.

The attached video shows the successful efforts of Portland Audubon and the
Portland School District to save what is believed to be the largest flock in
North America.
