Hi all,

Here is an interesting article on white winged crossbills. Yesterday, Micheal Fleming kindly informed me that they (Stefan Schlick and Ted Kenefick) also observed a female white-winged carrying simliar nesting material consisting of a mossy, fiberous material at Stevens Pass.

This past Sunday, I had a female on Mary Ann Creek Rd in Chesaw, WA doing the same thing. She yanked the stuff out of the branches like it was cotton candy. This is consistent with what this article describes.
