Hi Bill,

I have seen these Geese before. I believe they live next door to the locks. Once on my walk from there to Discovery Park, I met these geese just under the railroad bridge. They were very territorial but I wanted to get a good look. They walked away from me and slipped under a fence, if I remember correctly, the residence immediately west of the Railroad Bridge. This is the south side of the waterway.

This is a possible explanation.

They are very impressive Geese and your photo is a great shot of them.
