Hello Tweeters -

Today, after attending the Seattle Dog Show, I walked from Qwest Field to the Seattle Center by way of the waterfront.

It seems that this must be the week for Red-breasted Mergansers. There were two on the beach in front of my place in Des Moines a couple of days ago, but right off the Park by Steamers, there were about 5 Red-breasted Mergansers. Looked like 1 male and 4 females swimming about. There were also two Surf Scoters and one other bird I was unable to identify due to the way the sun was shining behind it. Further up the way, in the little area south of Pier 70 (by where the Real World apartment used to be), there was one lone Red-necked Grebe and a flotilla of about 36 Barrow's Goldeneyes.

All in all, not too many birds besides the gulls and pigeons that wholeheartedly enjoy the tourists more than we do!
