My 11 y.o. son and I made a quick trip to Nisqually this afternoon. We left
the Phinney Ridge area of Seattle at 1, and were home by 5. Highlights
include:
Red-tailed Hawks adding to their nest, just E of the twin barns, as well as
numerous views of them in the air.
4 Great Horned Owls doing their darnedest to ignore the gawkers. (As
previously reported, where the boardwalk from the twin barns meets the
Nisqually River boardwalk.)
A Turkey Vulture on the ground in the fields NNW of the Twin Barns, then
briefly in the air.
A Northen Pintail behind the visitors center.
Swallows galore.
No traffic jams!
