Subject: [Tweeters] 41 Turkey Vultures pass through Quilcene.

I live in the Olympic foothills north of Quilcene on the Olympic Peninsula.
Between 10:45 & 11:15AM today, I observed a major movement of Turkey
Vultures migrating through. My property has a slight southern slope with an
open field which allows small thermals to form over my place. So in a span
of about 30 minutes I observed a string of small groups of Turkey Vultures
appear over a forested ridge to the south of my place. They would soar in
from the south and then rise in the thermal forming a small kettle. The
vultures would rise in a tight spiral in the thermal directly over my head
and then peel off and glide off in a northwesterly direction towards Sequim
and Port Angeles. I observed a total of 41 Turkey Vultures. As I scanned the
forested ridge, it was also evident that a lot of swallows are arriving.

It is always nice to watch the wonders of nature from your front porch!

Good Birding,
