Hello All
Jim Flynn, Fred Boesche and I birding out to the coast today. We first
checked Brady Loop Road and met quick success with an adult Slaty-backed
Gull on the eastern portion of the loop, in the fields. The one reasonable

We headed out to Ocean Shores with a stop at Hoquiam STP. In the ponds were
2 Ruddy Ducks, and about 300 Northern Shovelers. Offshore the Ocean Shores
Jetty were at least 50 Black-legged Kittiwakes and 3-4 Orcas (1-2 miles
out). Also 3 Rock Sandpipers with turnstones and Surfbirds on the jetty
itself. A Palm Warbler was in the scotch broom just across from the
interpretive center by the marina, and a pure white first winter Glaucous
Gull was roosting on a dock in the marina.

On our way back we stopped and walked the boardwalk at Nisqually NWR. We had
nice views of 2 downy and 1 adult Great Horned Owl.
