Ten of us joined the annual Kitsap Audubon field trip to the Skagit, Samish and Padilla Bay yesterday. The highlight was a Eurasian Green-Winged Teal found by Fay Linger at the slough on the Bayview-Edison Road just north of Hwy 20. We had great looks at the Great Horned Owl nesting near the parking area of Wylie Slough. We had a number of Rough-legged Hawks and an American Kestrel. Lots of Trumpeter Swans, but we didn't manage to see the big congregation of Snow Geese. Lots of singing Bewick's Wrens and Ruby Crowned Kinglets, as well as Violet-Green and Tree Swallows.

Hi Gene,

As neither John Finkbeiner nor I subscribe to Tweeters it might be nice if you were to do a posting about the field trip yesterday to the Fir Island and Padilla Bay areas.

You wouldn't have to mention the whole list if you don't want to, but the nesting Great Horned Owl at the second parking lot of the Headquarters Unit of the Skagit Game Range might be mentioned (I think it is OK to do that?)

The Eurasian Green-winged Teal at the slough on the Bayview- Edison Road just north of Hwy 20 is worth a mention even though it is only a different sub-species. They are not common at all.

Of course the numbers of Rough-legged Hawks and the very good scope looks we had of them is also worth a mention.
