To my eye the "Slaty-backed" seems to have a rather too small and slight
bill and to be not dark enough. Why not a Vega Herring Gull? Judging by
photos in Howell & Dunn and Olsen and Larsson Vega Herrings show quite
similar winter adult head marking to those of Slaty-backed and may also show
the "string of pearls" on the spread wing.

Hello again, just a word of caution regarding the Grays Harbor County
Slaty-backed Gull I mentioned in my recent post.
There was also at least one adult Western Gull in the flock which contained
the SBGU and the birds can be a good distance from the road.
Alright, I guess it was more like 27 words of caution.
