Hello all,
We birded the west end of Walla Walla county on the 15th - found 2 Caspian
Terns on the delta - our earliest by one day - however Aaron Skirvin found
one at McKay Res. south of Pendleton OR on the 1st for a really early date.
Also had Dunlin, Western and Least Sandpipers and a Virginia Rail calling.
There are a couple thousand Greater White-fronted Geese in the Burbank
slough area, 8 Tundra Swan were feeding in the cornfield also.
Had Eurasian Wigeon at Tyson pond, delta, and the northshore drive millet
pond for a total of 8. Thousands of pintail and wigeon in the area.
Large flocks of Ring-billed Gulls are hanging out around the Railex ponds
(just before Dodd road) with a few dozen of them being VERY pink -
beautiful.
Finally had Swallows - lots of Violet-greens on Detour road and several Tree
on the delta.
Happy spring, MerryLynn
