All-
We just completed day 1 of 9 Killer Whale and seabird surveys. Today we
started Just above the Astoria Canyon then zig-zag north from shore to
shelf break up to Grey's Harbor. Highlights- 2 Manx Shearwaters flying
north , Ancient Murrelets, Laysan Albatross, Pomarine Jaeger, Killer
Whales, Sperm Whale, Humpbacked Whale. Many flocks of Black-legged
Kittiwakes. Short-tailed Shearwaters were patchy but regular including
a few rafts. Rhinos were in breeding attire and plentiful. Vast
majority of murres were in winter plumage. I think we will be in
Washington waters for the next few days, maybe Canada, then down to
Oregon. More reports to follow.
