Today (3/18/08), I led a Seattle Audubon Society field trip to selected locations in Snohomish and Skagit counties. The weather was fine and so were the birds. We observed 65 species.

Highlights include:

Eurasian Green-winged Teal - 1 male along Bayview/Edison Rd just N of Hwy 20
Red-shouldered Hawk - still at the end of Valley Road near La Conner in Skagit County
Pacific Golden-Plover - with a dozen Black-bellied Plovers at the Field Road 90 on the Samish Flats
Great Horned Owl - on the nest at Skagit Wildlife (aka Game Range)
Short-eared Owls - 2 at the end of Rawlins Road on Fir Island
Northern Flicker - 2 intergrades along Boe Road in Snohomish County

It was a good day.
