Charlie thanks for this post. The Mockingbird was present in the holly
bush (on the north side of 400th just east of 244th) at 7:30 this
morning and an added bonus was to have Fred come walking by with his
dog.

Hello All,
I just got back from viewing a Northern Mockingbird on the Enumclaw
Plateau in King County. The bird was first found by Fred Boesche, who
has seen it reliably this week. I got there at about 2:30 and had to
wait around until the bird began singing from the middle of a blackberry
thicket. Even then I couldn't see it for another 10 minutes, when it
finally came out onto the grass and then perched briefly in a bush. Fred
has been seeing it almost daily in a fruiting holly just across the road
from where I had it.

The spot is in the immediate vicinity of the intersection of 244th Ave
and 400th Street. There is a lot of truck traffic on 400th, so I found
the closest pulloff down near the nursery, to the east of this
intersection, and walked back. The bird has been frequenting the holly
on the north side of the road, and the ditch on the south side. Here is

Also, since I can't possibly post without talking about gulls, there was
a nice 1st cycle Glaucous Gull in a big gull flock in the area, as well
as hundreds of swallows up high.
