Hey tweets, Even though I didn't get down to the Fill until noon, and I
underestimated the strength of the sun and hence was painfully
underdressed in the cold wind, it was a great day. Best birds of the
day were: a Dunlin (on the main pond) and a Bank Swallow (in a flock of
Tree and Violet-green Swallows).

The Bald Eagle couple seem to be serious about their nest at nearby
Talaris - I can't imagine why else one would sit for prolonged periods
on what looks like an extremely uncomfortable bed of random sticks.

The young male Anna's Hummingbird that has been guarding the grounds
around the Wedding Rock has come into breeding plumage. He was shining
his head feathers this way and that like a magenta laser seeking its
target. Must have been a female hidden nearby because I didn't see any
rival males.

We're in the season now when every day brings new arrivals from the
south, while our winter residents are clearly packing up and getting
ready to head out. If you stand very still, you can almost feel the
planet tilting as it leans its northern hemisphere toward the warmth of
the sun, as heliotropic as a sunflower. - Connie, Seattle
