Hi Brendan,

We stayed at Zion Lodge from February 20-23. Zion canyon is not exactly
"birdy" in the winter but there were a lot of the usual suspects about. I
would expect a month would make a difference in the number of migrants.
Highlight of our trip was a Ferruginous Hawk in the lower canyon. The area
with the most birds was the road on the way to the ghost town of Grafton.
(Turn at Rockville - when the road turns to dirt and it's muddy and you
don't have a 4WD - turn around!) The roadsides and trees here were full of
finches, sparrows, Eurasian collared-doves, and we had a flyby merlin and
peregrine.

Good luck! Even without birds this is one beautiful area.
