Will be traveling to Puerto Vallarta Memorial Day week, and hope some of you have been, and found some special birdy pockets nearby. I am anxiously awaiting delivery of Howell's "Bird-finding Guide to Mexico," and have found many trip reports online (most of which are from winter trips...) but would appreciate any other tips tweeters may have to offer.
I will get up to San Blas for one morning, and hope to break away from non-birding companion long enough for a southward trip to hunt Dwarf Vireo, Long-tailed Wood-partridge, Green-striped Brush-finch and Red Warbler on the volcano just across the border into Colima.
Especially desirable would be an accessible mangrove swamp--i have no qualms about knee-high mud--in which I might at least HEAR a Rufous-necked Wood-rail!
Thanks!
