hello all:

acting on a tip and grainy photo from scott dodson, i went to the falls this late afternoon and can tell you to:


bring a looooooonnng lens and a coat and check out a brooding falcon. the sno-falls peregrines have set up housekeeping on the old raptor nest on the cliff face midway between the nest used last year and the one the year before. the nest is in a declevity to the left and near the bottom of the chartreuse lichens grouped together on the cliff face. the falcon can best be seen from the end of the sidewalk extending west from the bottom of the stairs leading up to the main observation deck (by the grassy place they often hold weddings in).

scott's photo appears to show at least two eggs. the only time the falcon moved while i was there was at a time i was checking to see if she was visible from the main observation deck, so i did not see how many eggs she is brooding. best views are from midway down the walkway to the end at the fence.

the bird appeared to be expecting a lunch delivery, but i couldn't hang around to see the food exchange.
