Birders
? Northern Mockingbird?
Brief glimpse, but there is POSSIBLY another Mocker
in the Seattle area. My son and I were at Seattle Audubon
(80th and 35th ) and walked around the block to try out
carrying a tripod and saw a Mocker sized bird flying from
west to east and over a rooftop. It showed prominent white
wing patches and a spread tail typical of a Mockingbird,
size was right. It did not vocalize. I have seen many of
them before, including a few in Oregon. This bird looked
more like a Mockingbird than anything else I can think of.

It only flew from one side of the street to the next.
We waited a bit and did not hear it at all and did not
see it again. It appeared to go behind a house and we
could not politely get a look into the yard behind that
house. There were several Stellers Jays in the area
including one that had pale tan on the head, throat and nape.
When turning around to look at where our mystery bird
came from, what did we see but a string of Holly trees!
Out of season, out of range Mockingbirds in Oregon
have been seen around Holly trees too sometimes.

Worth checking but no promises.
I would not have posted this except for Guy encouraging
people to let go of pride and think of what a bonus it is
in case the bird is relocated and turns out to be a fun bird
for others.
Area I think is a block east of the Audubon house. It was
in the block bordered by a synagogue / church parking lot
on one end of the block and a mini round-a-bout on the
other. I think it is between 80th and 81st, maybe the street
we were on was 36th?
Good birding,
Judy
