Your first post on this sounded like a Nor. Pintail to me as well, especially the description of the neck, but I dismissed that when you described it as "goose sized" Definitely not a description for a pintail. But in response to your latest post, I know that pintails often loose their "pin" tail, so possibly you did have one, just minus it's nameplate. I recall scratching my head over a female pheasant once that had lost it's tail feathers somewhere. Funny how we get so used to some fieldmarks!
