Hi Tweets,

Today while I was on Roosevelt in Maple Leaf I heard a crow make an alarm
call. I looked up and saw an immature Peregrine Falcon sitting on the north side
of the Maple Leaf water tower. The crows harassed her (the bird seemed large
but of course I am just guessing that it was a female) for a few moments but
didn't seem overly concerned with her presence. She had the largest crop I have
ever seen on any bird. A little while later a Bald Eagle soared over the
reservoir and shortly after that a Turkey Vulture went by headed north. The
Peregrine was in the exact same spot three hours after I first spotted her and I
tried to see if she was banded but she had a foot up (and her eyes closed some of
the time) and the other leg wasn't visible. Just as I was about to leave I saw
her watching something and a Sharp-shinned Hawk flew right by her. I came
home to write this up and she was still sitting there when I left. Not a bad day
in the neighborhood!
