We birded Whidbey Island today. It was gorgeous. I
knew we would have good luck when several Barrow's
Goldeneyes showed up at the Mukilteo ferry terminal. A
Brandt's Cormorant was also there, with dozens of
Pegeon Guillmots on the other side. Near the
Keystone Ferry terminal we saw the Snow Bunting and
Short-eared Owl near the dock sitting on dry land
across from the East end of Crockett Lake. (Thanks to
Craig & Joy Johnson.) The ferry terminal area had 10
Harlequin ducks, dozens of Pigeon Guillemots and all 3
Cormorants -- Pelagic, Brandt's and Double-crested.

We found 3 swans just north of the Naval Air Station.
I assume Trumpeter, but couldn't stop for long enough
to scope them to be sure.

At Deception Pass, Common & Red-throated Loons, Pigeon
Guillemots, a single Rhino Auklet, and Mew Gulls
played in the outgoing tidal rip.

Padilla Bay had next to nothing except hundreds of
Mallards.

Finally, we headed south to Skagit Flats and saw
hundreds of Snow Geese settling in for the night.
