I have received reports of a possible Red-necked or Little Stint at the Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge located in Hoquiam today. The bird was seen by several people and I will try to compile their field notes. Luckily, the refuge biologist got good looks at this bird. There is a photo out there as well that I will try to attain.

The field marks I have heard about so far are the following: Dark legs, same size as a Western Sandpiper, and red coloration (like the red of a Red Knot) of the head and down into its chest where it ends in a defined line. If anyone is heading out there tomorrow or Sunday be on alert for this bird.

Also, seen today by refuge staff was a male Yellow-headed Blackbird at the corner of Paulson Rd. and Airport Rd.. It was on the barb wire fence and being chased by a male Red-winged Blackbird. It then flew onto the refuge side of the road.

An exciting day at the Shorebird Festival! Also, the female Ruff was seen yesterday at the Ocean Shores STP by Ruth Sullivan, but not today to my knowledge.
