Hi Tweets,

Interesting to compare Dennis' records with our own. We have had only a few sightings
of LINCOLN'S SPARROW here in West Seattle in just over two years. They fit fairly well
into Dennis' time-frame with the notable exception of some winter records. Our sightings are:

5/9/07 (just a bit later than Dennis's last spring record)
11/24/07
1/13/08 (Perhaps the same bird as in November?)
4/30 and 5/1/08

Not surprisingly all of the sightings are from Wednesdays (my day off) or the
weekend. A little observer bias for you...

As far as FOX SPARROW goes, they don't seem to be winter residents in our
neighborhood. All of the records we have are presumably migrants:

4/29/06
Absent in 2007
4/13/08 (two birds)
4/28 and 4/30/08

Interesting that they have the same migration time-frame as Lincoln's. I normally
think of sparrows as "early migrants" in comparison to neotropicals like warblers
and vireos - seems I may need to adjust my mind-set.

Anyone else have urban migration records of either species?

good birding,
