Yesterday I walked the dike on the east side of Longview (parallel to
Pacific Way) between 42nd and 48th. Last year it looks like one of the homeowners
tried to create a pond with an island in his backyard, which is visible from
the dike. Throughout this spring there has been a variety of ducks and some
Cackling Geese that have taken advantage of it. Yesterday their were perhaps
twenty Western Sandpipers feeding in the mud around the edges along with one
Greater Yellowlegs. All the following were seen from the dike yesterday:
Cackling Goose
Gadwall
Mallard
Green-winged Teal
Red-tailed Hawk
Greater Yellowlegs
Western Sandpiper
Vaux's Swift
American Crow
Western Scrub-Jay
Violet-green Swallow
Barn Swallow
Black-capped Chickadee
American Robin
European Starling
Savannah Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
American Goldfinch
House Sparrow
